How artificial intelligence is used in automobile industry
  • Posted October 13, 2021

Artificial Intelligence (AI) presents never-ending opportunities to revolutionize technology in every industrial sector, and the automobile industry is not untouched by AI. For example, the autonomous or self-driven car is the hotspot in the latest research, and every car manufacturer is investing heavily in it. IHS Automotive predicts that by the end of 2020, there will be more than 150 million AI-powered cars. Before discussing the application areas of AI in cars and their accessories, let’s highlight the benefits AI offers in the automobile sector:

    • Increased safety of the driver

    • Reduced failures due to consistent quality control

    • Refined driving experience

    • Lesser probability of equipment failure

    • Rise in productivity due to robot-human collaboration.

    • Better project management

    • Improved after-sales support

Artificial intelligence finds its applications across the automotive value chain (Exhibit 2). Currently, AI is being implemented in automotive manufacturing, including design, supply chain, production, and post-production. In addition, AI is being implemented in ‘driver assistance’ and ‘driver risk assessment’ systems, which is transforming the transportation sector. Aftermarket services such as predictive maintenance and insurance are also transforming through the usage of AI.

    Manufacturing

Robots are simultaneously working with human and learning automotive manufacturing skills (design, part manufacturing, and assembly) with the help of AI. Currently, AI helps humans to develop cars (Exhibits 3) using Exoskeletons; in the future, the entire plant can be operated by these AI-powered robots.https://www.futurebridge.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Picture3-5-300x161.png 300w, https://www.futurebridge.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Picture3-5-1024x550.png 1024w, https://www.futurebridge.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Picture3-5-768x413.png 768w, https://www.futurebridge.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Picture3-5-1080x580.png 1080w, https://www.futurebridge.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Picture3-5-610x328.png 610w" alt="" width="1102" height="592">

    Transportation

AI is revolutionizing the transportation sector (Exhibits 4 and 5). Currently, AI is playing a vital role in driver assistance technology, and it is being used widely in modern vehicles. Currently, Tesla is offering level 2 autonomous cars, and the company is planning to launch level 4/5 autonomous vehicles by the end of 2020. AI can be used to monitor the driver’s eye – whether one is sleeping/tired or not.https://www.futurebridge.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Picture4-5-300x93.png 300w, https://www.futurebridge.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Picture4-5-1024x318.png 1024w, https://www.futurebridge.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Picture4-5-768x238.png 768w, https://www.futurebridge.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Picture4-5-1080x335.png 1080w, https://www.futurebridge.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Picture4-5-610x189.png 610w" alt="" width="1102" height="342">https://www.futurebridge.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Picture5-3-300x84.png 300w, https://www.futurebridge.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Picture5-3-1024x286.png 1024w, https://www.futurebridge.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Picture5-3-768x215.png 768w, https://www.futurebridge.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Picture5-3-1080x302.png 1080w, https://www.futurebridge.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Picture5-3-610x170.png 610w" alt="" width="1102" height="308">
