What will you be doing?

• Collaborate on short research projects for publication on Barclays’ research platform


• Onboard new data sets and write software to make them usable


• Inform analysis designs, especially with regard to casual and statistical inference


• Understand and apply your understanding of selection bias in alternative data sets


• Apply Machine Learning methods tactically, improving research deliverables without slowing down the research process


• Ideate and execute novel methods for longer term projects with high novelty and potential impact on financial research

What we’re looking for:

• Excellent data analysis and Machine Learning skills


• An understanding of data pipelining and automation, with experience using PySpark on large data sets – over 1B data points


• An excellent understanding of the application of statistics to research design


• Experience with the standard Python Machine Learning and data analysis stack (pandas, sklearn, tensorflow/ keras/ pytorch, numpy, scipy, statsmodels, etc.)

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Proven skills with causal and statistical inference, including observational causal designs


• Past experience with large scale text analysis or geolocation data analysis


• Experience in quantitative finance

Where will you be working?

You will be working at our Americas Headquarters at 745 Seventh Avenue. This 37-story office tower is located in Times Square in the heart of Manhattan and features a cafeteria, fitness center and state-of-the-art LED signage on the facade of the building.
