About the role:

Target is offering an exciting opportunity for data wranglers, scientists and enthusiasts who want to analyse data, write algorithms and build models using large and diverse datasets. The opportunity allows you to work on open stack and Hadoop. In this role you will be working to determine solutions to streamline and optimise Merchandising related problems using large scale data wrangling and creation of automated algorithmic systems. You can expect to be involved in:

• Consulting with clients to scope data science problems and enable adoption


• Framing business problems in precise mathematical terms with testable hypotheses


• Formulating statistical, machine learning or mathematical solutions to test and optimize automated solutions to business problems


• Deploying algorithms and solutions using big data environment


• Become a subject and data expert on the complex Merchandising domain

Expected skills:

• Data wrangling and pipelining skills using HiveQL and R/Python


• Ability to write modular code and data pipelines which can be automated and scaled


• Great communication skills and experience in working with clients


• Good programming skills in R/ Python/ Scala/ Java


• Knowledge in statistics/ optimization/ mathematics


• Ability to work with a team(s) to drive the work in a collaborative environment


• Ability to mentor team members in a project team

Preferred Educational background:

• Computer Science graduates from reputed engineering institutes with 5+ years of experience


• MTech or MS (Statistics, Economics) with relevant data experience of 4+ years


• PhD with relevant experience of 3+ years
