Role Description

Key Deliverables of this role:

• Ability to process and rationalise structured data and ability to integrate multiple large data sources and databases into one system


• Proficient understanding of distributed computing principles and of the fundamental design principles behind a scalable application


• Strong knowledge of the Big Data ecosystem


• Practical experience in using HDFS or big data cloud storage


• Practical expertise in developing applications and using querying tools on top of Hive, Spark (PySpark or ScalaSpark)


• Strong Scala skills


• Good communication skills (written and spoken), ability to engage with different stakeholders and to synthesise different opinions and priorities.


• Experience in Python

Nice to Haves (not requirements):

• Knowledge of a Python web framework (preferably: Flask, Tornado, or twisted)


• Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML/CSS


• Knowledge of Elastic Search Stack (ELK)


• Knowledge of and experience using data models and data dictionaries in a regulatory context. E.g., Banking and Financial
