Question is: Is there an authentication option whereby our application (web page) can pass authentication credentials to Tableau so the user does not need to enter the credentials?
Thanks!

I've also tried it on Tableau 9.0.If you've gotten this to work, what versions of each are you using? (I can see that Denodo even has a mini tutorial on using Tableau to connect to Denodo, but the screenshot shows them using months instead of quarters and I can't tell which version of Tableau they are using).Thank you~! less

According to the documentation, you're supposed to include the following script in your file which will create a Tableau global variable:<script src="https://YOUR-SERVER/javascripts/api/tableau-2.js"></script>
I'm not sure how to access this global variable within an Angular2 class.

I need to show the corresponding location on the map in Tableau. Can somebody suggest me how to do this?
Another concern is that in tableau maps, there is no caption for any location as we can see in Google Maps. Can I change a raw map to more informative in terms of showing location data such as a city, an IT campus, etc?
Thank you

install.packages("Rserve")
library(Rserve)
Rserve()
// Should say "Starting RServe..."
Then in Tableau:
// For Tableau under 'Help' > 'Settings and Performance' > 'Manage R Connections'
// Server: 127.0.0.1 and Port:6311
// Make sure that 'RStudio' with 'RServer' is installed and running prior to Tableau connection
However I would like to do the same thing with Python, so Python can be used as a script in Tableau (not using Tableau's api in Python) - anyone know if this is possible? The snippet above was taken from here

I added a connection to an internal, i.e. non-public, PostgreSQL DB via Tableau Server
I can access the PostgreSQL via logging in to Tableau Server just fine
I am also able to connect to the Tableau Server through Tableau Desktop BUT I cannot connect to the PostgreSQL as it is not directly accessible from the client machine running Tableau Desktop.
Is there a way to access this non-public PostgreSQL database connected to Tableau Server from Tableau Desktop through Tableau Server? less

Tableau has me mystified. My database has 2 billion things; however, no matter what I do in Tableau, the query Redshift reports as having been run is "Fetch 10000 in SQL_CURxyz", i.e. a cursor operation. In the screenshot below, you can see the cursor ids change, indicating new queries are being run -- but you don't see the original queries.
Is this a Redshift or Tableau quirk? Any idea how to see what's actually running under the hood? And why is Tableau always operating on 10000 records at a time? less

I open Tableau workbook which automatically updates data visualisations because of union I made. I save this workbook as extract and collages without Tableau Desktop can view it via Tableau Reader.

So, now, I want the Tableau to load on the website with filters already applied through the Javascript API.
Or, how can I use the "onFirstInteractive" option of the Javascript? The problem is I don't need to use the Javascript API to load the Tableau but just need it to apply filters on the Dashboard.
function tableauFilter (){
var placeholderDiv = document.getElementById("viz2"); // Don't need this

var options = {
onFirstInteractive : function(FilterName,Value){ //This is what I want to be able to use

Current Process: - We publish and refresh data sources (packaged .tdsx) to the tableau server. Our customers download the data sources and build ad hoc reports for their business needs.
Problem: - If the customer already build some views last month, is there a way to download the latest ‘.tdsx’ file and use it in the existing workbook were they created the views.Today, customer is re-creating the views using each month updated ‘.tdsx’ files.
Can you suggest a better way to achieve this? I can provide more details if it is needed.
Note: - Publishing a packaged workbook (.twbx) with views in it is not feasible as the report requirement varies most of the months. less

2) If they close their browser, start a different browser session, or let the Tableau cookie expire, they will be prompted to login again.
3) Throughout the day, you could potentially be prompted to login multiple times when trying to view dashboards. This quickly becomes annoying and tiresome.
Tableau offers a solution called "Trusted Authentication" which bypasses the manual login process. After a week of debugging and troubleshooting, I was able to accomplish this. I could not find any solutions on Stackoverflow, so I wanted to share my knowledge on how I accomplished this in hope to help others. less
