I need to show the corresponding location on the map in Tableau. Can somebody suggest me how to do this?
Another concern is that in tableau maps, there is no caption for any location as we can see in Google Maps. Can I change a raw map to more informative in terms of showing location data such as a city, an IT campus, etc?
Thank you

The code is to be written in C# using the Tableau Rest API.
I was able to sign in to Tableau server successfully using the Rest API. However, I was not able to query the workbooks. Below is my code.

static async Task CallWebAPIAsync()

client.Timeout = TimeSpan.FromMilliseconds(Timeout.Infinite);
client.BaseAddress = new Uri("https://my server url.com");
client.DefaultRequestHeaders.Accept.Clear();

Does anyone know how to create calculated fields or know of other methods to redact in Tableau?

So, now, I want the Tableau to load on the website with filters already applied through the Javascript API.
Or, how can I use the "onFirstInteractive" option of the Javascript? The problem is I don't need to use the Javascript API to load the Tableau but just need it to apply filters on the Dashboard.
function tableauFilter (){
var placeholderDiv = document.getElementById("viz2"); // Don't need this
var url = "https://public.tableau.com/views/Test_1228/Dashboard1" // Don't need this either
var options = {
onFirstInteractive : function(FilterName,Value){ //This is what I want to be able to use
activesheet = viz.getWorkbook().getActiveSheet();

I have succedded to have this viz displayed in a web page by integrating the code given by the 'Share' button on the Tableau public viz page.
Now I want to do the same, but inside an IPython notebook. It seems to be possible because I saw an example in nbviewer here: http://nbviewer.jupyter.org/gist/msund/96bd1d837f4139b2558d
I have integrated the 'Share' button script code into a Markdown cell but the viz won't get displayed when the cell is run. When I look at the browser console, it seems that the js code, and object tag get sanitized, even if I tell IPython to trust the notebook.
Is there any workaround ? less

I wanted to know if it was possible to download a tableau workbook (which is linked to a live SQL DB) with the data from the tableau server? Basically I would want to have a downloaded packaged tableau file which I can pass around for demos, without having to connect to the database every time.

I know they are two different products that are shipped separately, but I am wondering what your business requirements would be if you were to use both Desktop and Server?
Basically, what can you do with Desktop and Server that you cannot do with just Desktop?

If we go down the extract path will the custom SQL queries only run once and all instances of tableau will use a single result set or will each instance of tableau run the custom SQL separately and only cache those results locally?

install.packages("Rserve")
library(Rserve)
Rserve()
// Should say "Starting RServe..."
Then in Tableau:
// For Tableau under 'Help' > 'Settings and Performance' > 'Manage R Connections'
// Server: 127.0.0.1 and Port:6311
// Make sure that 'RStudio' with 'RServer' is installed and running prior to Tableau connection
However I would like to do the same thing with Python, so Python can be used as a script in Tableau (not using Tableau's api in Python) - anyone know if this is possible? The snippet above was taken from here

But I found that to add the web server IP address to https://tsm-computer-name:8850. And I found that Tableau Server domain and Ip address are also required.
So I just want to know the following questions.
Are Tableau Server and Tableau Service Management on different computers? If so, where should TSM be installed and how? How do I create a TSM credential (admin)?
